MWANGAZA KITCHENS
Clean Cooking, Brighter Futures
Mwangaza Kitchens is an integrated institutional clean-cooking model developed by Mwangaza Light and DanChurchAid (DCA) as part of Green Churches Kenya. Working with the Anglican Church of Kenya and other Christian denominations, the programme supports churches to lead Kenya’s transition to clean energy and environmental stewardship across their institutions.
Through long-term partnerships, we walk with institutions from energy audits and decision-making to installation, training, and ongoing service. Designed to be carbon-ready, Mwangaza Kitchens lays the foundation for climate finance that accelerates clean cooking, restores ecosystems, and transforms institutions at scale.
Mwangaza Light has been recognised by the Special Envoy for Climate Change as the Project Developer leading the transition to modern cooking in faith-based schools and institutions, aligned with Kenya’s broader shift across schools, hospitals, and prisons. Mwangaza Kitchens is the delivery model enabling this transition.
